United States Air Force’s X-37 a secret project successfully entered the Earths atmosphere and landed safely on the ground today after completing a secret flight in space for seven months. The unmanned space ship entered the earth over Pacific ocean and landed at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California at about 0916 GMT to end its maiden voyage.
The first robotic space drone spent more than 220 days in orbit performing secret operation under USAF command. The space craft was launch on Atlas 5 rocket on April 22nd and was basically to determine the performance of the space craft without the crew and also to demonstrate it’s autonomous landing and navigation.
X-37 was built by Boeing’s Phantom Works Division and looks just like a space shuttle i.e. having two wings and twin ‘V’ shape vertical stabilizers with a payload back of a size of small truck payload bay and also have black thermal tiles on the belly of the craft.
