JSC Special: Morpheus Free Flight 7 Rescheduled - Today at KSC ~11:45 a.m.

Today, the Morpheus team will attempt the Free Flight 7 test at Kennedy Space Center (KSC) that was scrubbed twice last week due to technical issues and inclement weather. The technical issues have been resolved, and it's a beautiful day, so we are going for it! The test will be streamed live on JSC's UStream Channel. View the live stream, along with progress updates sent via Twitter on our website. Or, if you're on-site, watch live on JSC HDTV (channel 51-2) and IPTV (channel 4512).

During this test, the autonomous untethered Morpheus "Bravo" vehicle will ascend from the ground over the flame trench to a max altitude of about 467ft (142m). The vehicle will then fly forward and downward at a 30-degree glideslope, covering about 637ft (194m) horizontally in 30 seconds (50 percent increase in the translation velocity), before descending and landing on a dedicated landing pad at the front (south) of the ALHAT Hazard Field. Test firing is planned for approximately 11:45 a.m. to noon CST, and will last around 75 seconds. Streaming will begin approximately 20 minutes prior to ignition, when the crew clears the launch pad.

*Note: Testing operations are very dynamic, and actual firing time may vary. Follow Morpheus on Twitter for the latest information @MorpheusLander. (Send "follow morpheuslander" to 40404 for text updates.) For more, check out our website
