Dear Government/ Congress/ Whomever:
I would like to take the time, to personally thank you! Thank you, for taking it upon yourselves to decide whether or not COAL is good for us and our community. Thank you, for making it hard on the working man. Thank you, for taking food off our tables. Thank you, for making it hard to pay our bills, plus provide a roof over the heads of our children!
COAL is a way of life around these small towns. We don't have the luxury of factories nor other means of job choices.. The coal mining industry has provided a lot for my home town. For generations, it has been the heart of these back woods. Coal mining, flows through the veins of most men, like their fathers and grandfathers before. My grandpa is almost 94 years old, he worked underground for 46 years. Just so he could provide for his family. Take away our coal mines and you will find several ghost towns in Eastern KY. It is nothing to you but everything to US!
I apologize on your behalf, on lack of intelligence, that you can not understand. It is obvious that you skipped Social Studies, and missed where it says "Coal is the longest lasting natural resource. Plus our beautiful trees and mountains, act as filters. So we can breath just fine.
In our neck of the woods, coal keeps it together. Like I stated earlier, "It is the HEART of our community" and you keep on poking and stabbing at it. When you mess with the coal industry, its not just them. You involve our children, elders, families, and our small town. Our way of life might not be as high and mighty as your, but we like it just FINE.. We didn't ask for your help, so PLEASE don't help us.. Seriously you are KILLING us. We don't like nor do we accept, having our feet stomped on by some high priced designer shoes. Our miners wear steel toed boots, so when we kick back it is going to hurt. Find someone else to pick on.
Research shows processed foods are leading the way in causing cancer. Yummy, but deadly. Tobacco causes cancer, rain your wrath down on someone else. If you are so worried about the air we breath, then maybe all factories should be shut down. And the use of vehicles should be outlawed. In the "GOOD BOOK" it says, You won't be able to tell season from season.. So maybe everyone needs to just start hitting their knees and praying!!
My husband works very hard to keep our family together, just as his father did. COAL keeps your lights on, you should be THANKFUL!! Have you thanked a miner today? YOU SHOULD!!
Sincerely Yours,
( One angry coal miner's wife)

Anyone who would like to share my STATUS is more than welcome!! Keep this going and get our miners some appreciation they deserve!!
