Abysmal Economic News This week we learned that our economic growth last quarter was an embarrassing 0.1%.  The media describes it as "anemic" but I would describe it as pathetic.  Americans deserve better.  The Wall Street Journal notes that this "marked the second-worst quarterly performance since the recession ended in mid-2009."  Also, this economic "expansion" since the recession ended in 2009 is considered the weakest in modern history. Obama came into office with Democrats in charge of Congress and got everything he wanted, including his (failed) stimulus and ObamaCare.  According to Obama's stimulus promises, our unemployment rate should be around 5% by now.  Clearly that's not the case.  But what's even more important to understand is that our current unemployment rate of 6.7% is artificially low.  What's happened in the Obama recovery is that millions of Americans have given up looking for work and simply left the labor force.  This artificially shrinks the pool, when measuring for unemployment.  There are also a lot of Americans who are in the labor force but are working jobs below their skill level and many of those are part-time.  That's no way to drive a viable, long-term economic recovery. China To Become #1 A few reports have come out recently that suggest China is on track to surpass America as the world's largest economy. I still maintain that energy is one of the major assets we have in this country that could turn this economy around. Tomorrow we will get the latest employment numbers from the Labor Department.  It's been over five years since Obama took office and yet his policies have yet to dig us out of our economic hole.  Stupidity is doing something over and over again and expecting different results.  Perhaps it's time to try something new.  Republicans have a real opportunity here to stand up and provide bold-colored solutions to the American people. Benghazi Email Fallout The revelations of the latest emails regarding the terrorist attack in Benghazi have put the spotlight back on the issue.  Then today in Washington there was a hearing on Benghazi, which included some bombshell revelations. This morning in Congressional testimony we heard from retired Air Force Brigadier General Robert Lovell, who was the former U.S. Africa Command intelligence director during the attack.  He testified that they knew "early on was that this was a hostile action" and that "this was no demonstration gone terribly awry."  He says they waited for a request from assistance from the State Department, and while it is unclear whether they could have done something or gotten there in time, he says "we should have tried."  Many people are now renewing their efforts for a select committee to investigate Benghazi.  Despite Jay Carney's best attempts to spin the Rhodes memo as not being related directly to Benghazi, it's clear that this administration is obfuscating the truth and withholding pertinent information.  Yesterday, Jay Carney actually tried to sell us this lie: "The email and the talking points were not about Benghazi. They were about the general situation in the Muslim world."  That's just flat-out untrue.  Even MSNBC is admitting that maybe there is something here on this issue of Benghazi.  No kidding!  Glad to see the Obama-mania media is finally coming around on this issue, realizing it is above partisanship and speaks to larger issues with this administration, what we owe the families of the fallen and the truth that the American people deserve. >>TV Tonight (10pm ET on Fox News) The families of Benghazi victims speak out tonight on 'Hannity.'
