DRILL, DIG, DISCOVER, AND DEREGULATE – THE REAL ‘ALL OF THE ABOVE’
Washington, February 27, 2012 -
Congressman Griffith released the following statement today regarding his ‘all of the above’ energy vision:
“Last week, the President spoke about his blueprint for a new era of American energy. In his speech, he accused Republicans of merely offering bumper sticker slogans as opposed to real solutions to address our energy challenges. The President said, ‘Step one is drill, and step two is drill, and then step three is keep drilling.’ Satire aside, he’s got it wrong. A real ‘all of the above’ energy approach is to drill, dig, discover, and deregulate.
“I support proposals that encourage the United States to tap into our abundant and affordable domestic energy resources. We should be drilling for oil and natural gas and digging for coal. Our universities and research labs should be discovering new energy technologies such as wind, solar, and biomass. And we need a regulatory environment for businesses that encourages the expenditure of private capital to utilize all of our available energy sources. Each of these options can play a critical role in America’s energy future.
“If one studies the statistics, American workers are the best in the world. We are the most innovative, and we will work harder than anybody else. If you combine our workforce with affordable energy, no economy in the world can compete with us. It’s time the government got out of the way.”
