The ISS , Hubble were intended to be supported by the shuttle to maximize the operation of both ISS & Hubble plus support assembly of future missions to other destinations and conduct earth orbit operations. Large sums of money for shuttle, ISS, MMU, Hubble, RMS were expended. The ISS may fail prematurely without shuttle since Soyuz doesn't have Eva capability nor the capacity to bring large components to the ISS.
There is a group in the government that either does not have sufficient intelligence to understand the concept of a space transportation system ( re: The Case to Save the Shuttle, nasaproblems.com) or is trying to destroy our space capability which is critical to National Security. The STS will provide a logical approach to travel to other destinations & conduct operations in earth orbit both capabilities are needed by the USA. These one shot, non reuseable capsule approaches like SLS/Orion are not the proper approach & are exceedingly costly, especially considering the shuttle hardware exists!!!
Placing this system in a museum is a scam, a fraud, the people responsible should be so charged.
I urge each of you to get organized and get a movement going to either restart or get a new design going, we have learned so much from this winged lifting body approach, we must keep it going.
