The shuttle is America's space program and was cancelled for erroneous cost /schedule reasons. Read former SPM bob Thompson's paper, my observations, The Case to Save the Shuttle, by al Richadson, Commercial Shuttle by Don Nelson. These are available on keeptheshuttleflying.com and nelson's site nasaproblems.com.
This program is critical to the USA for national security/space capability. The truth about the shuttle needs to get out. The shuttle should not be in a museum. As don Nelson points out, reusable vehicle is the only safe, economical, and performance way to go for access to space.
You know or should know that the public has not been made aware of the facts on shuttle costs /performance. The information is out there, and you should have been reporting the facts re shuttle, NASA management issues. Many space writers are also guilty. In the end America is the big loser.
So, why does the poll show lack of confidence?
