The two photos below illustrate the contrast between the shuttle and Russian Soyus.
The shuttle can land a large payload in a relative hospitable conditions on a runway whereas the Soyus lands a small payload via parachute in inhospitable conditions.
NEED I SAY MORE???
The shuttle should be returned to flight ASAP.
